Carpooling
Carpooling saves money, time, and the environment! Even if you only carpool one day a week, it can make a difference. Whether you carpool with classmates, co-workers, or friends, taking one car instead of two has many great benefits:
Save money by sharing the gas cost
Save time by using the carpool lane (when applicable)
Save time by only having to park one car
Save the environment by polluting less
Help reduce traffic congestion
The City of Santa Rosa offers incentives for carpoolers and those that don't use a car to commute:
Reserved Carpool Parking
Employers in Santa Rosa support their employees choice to carpool by identifying parking spaces reserved for carpoolers. The City of Santa Rosa, Amy’s Kitchen, Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, Memorial Hospital and others have installed these spaces. For information about installing carpool parking call: (707) 543-3325.
Guaranteed Ride Home
Finally, a program designed to take the worry out of leaving your car at home! The Guaranteed Ride Home program will provide an emergency ride in a taxi when you carpool, walk, ride a bike, or take the bus. To be eligible for a GRH, you must work in Santa Rosa and be registered in the “Take a Free Ride” Program and use a commute alternative. The GRH may be used up to four times a year. Taxi vouchers are issued annually. For information about the GRH Program call: (707) 543-3325.
