Santa Rosa’s Street Smarts Program works to raise a public awareness about our attitudes and actions on the streets to benefit the safety of drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists alike.
Resources for drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, parents and children are available at www.SRStreetSmarts.com. Residents are invited schedule a Street Smarts presentation for schools, community groups, or places of business. Educational and motivational materials are available to all Santa Rosa residents.
Some of the most dangerous behaviors people engage in on the roadways include:
Speeding and aggressive driving
Driving while distracted by a cell phone
Riding a bicycle against the flow of traffic
Riding a bicycle without a helmet
Not using crosswalks properly
The goal of the Street Smarts Program is to get people thinking about what they can personally do to make Santa Rosa a safe place for all modes of transportation. The ultimate benefit of this public awareness program is to help reduce injuries and fatalities caused by irresponsible driving and non-compliance with traffic laws.
